Wireless card can't be activate

#1 Post by dairyseb » Sun Nov 01, 2015 11:15 pm

Hi everybody!
I got an wireless issue with my T430s.

One day for no particular reason my wifi card stopped working.
I got a red X on my wireless statut and when I hit fn+f5 key it tell me to put my wireless switch on. (Trust me the switch is on)

What I found weird is that the card appear in device manager, but I don't have the option to enable it in my bios.

I opened my laptop to access my wireless card and all seem to be OK.

I have tried to download lenovo access--> didn't worked
I have tried to reinstall all the wireless driver --> didn't worked
I have tried to remove all of the battery saving mode that could turn off my wireless device --> didn't worked

So now i'm out of idea and I need help

Note that my laptop is not under the warranty anymore and that I also tried to call Lenovo but the service I got was quite bad.

If anyone have a solution to my problem I will be sooooooooooooooooooo happy

thank you very much and sorry for my crappy english skill

Pas de problème!

I think your wifi-card needs to be replaced.

Here's a list of all the WIRELESS CARDS that may appear in your T430s:
60Y3195 6250 WiMax
60Y3233 6300 WLAN
60Y3247 FXC 11WLAN
60Y3249 LTN 11WLAN
60Y3253 TP 22 WLAN
60Y3295 Marble Peak

And download this manual to get instructions: http://www.thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hm ... 538_02.pdf

Le français c'est tellement plus facile

But how can I be sure that the card is dead? If it was dead how could it appear in the device manager?

Thank you for your quick answer

If there is no wifi option in your BIOS, then usually the card is either missing or faulty.
Device manager and BIOS do not check the same things.

Get one of those listed above cards, otherwise your BIOS might object and the machine not boot!
A replacement is cheap enough on eBay, check with this: lenovo (60Y3195,60Y3233,60Y3247,60Y3249,60Y3253,60Y3295)

Just receive the card, installed it and it didn't work ....

Yes the switch is on and I plug everything correctly.

Even with the new card installed, I can't see the card in the BIOS

So now I guess that my actual card wasn't broken and that I need to reformat my computer.

Any other solution?

Has wifi been enabled in BIOS?
(Config/Network/Wireless LAN and Wimax Radios = ON) and
(Security/IO Port Access/Wireless LAN = ENABLED)

Try booting a "live" Linux CD/USB and verify whether the card is "seen" there. That would at least isolate the issue to either hardware or software side.

Good luck.
