T430 keyboard bezel disassembly

#1 Post by UMPC2024 » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:49 pm

I'm trying to remove the keyboard bezel so I can gain access to the innards of my T430 2342-CTO and am referencing a video online. I got the left side mostly off and I'm having trouble getting the right part that has the DVD drive off. Are there any tips on how to remove it with marring the plastic?

I have not had a T430 yet but the Hardware Maintenance Manual should provide enough details to remove it. At the top of each forum page there's a link named HMM. Click it and locate your system.

The front of the palmrest has nubs that insert into the case. You can use credit card (or screwdriver with cloth over it) to safely pry the front of the palmrest loose. You also want to be slightly pulling the palmrest backward away from the laptop to make things easier.

Thanks guys. I was referencing my printed version of the T430 HMM as I went as well, but it was hard to lift up. The credit card idea was great since I was killing my nails and that was one of the main issues with it.

Roll up gently on each nub till they pop free instead of prying.

Time to get a decent plectrum, a.k.a. pick.
Has saved me many nails!
