I purchased a T440p, brand new at a bargain price. Living in Cancun, the machine was delivered with a Spanish keyboard. While I am awaiting the delivery of the backlit US English keyboard from the US, I want to use this keyboard, but am being stymied by the non-standard layout. I have to assume it worked with the delivered OS which was WIn 8.1, but I did a clean install of 10 as soon as 8.1 was activated. None of the Windows 10 Spanish layouts works correctly. I know I`m missing something, but I do not know what it is. Is there a propriatary Lenovo driver needed for this keyboard? TIA for any advice.

When you did the clean install, did you select the spanish keyboard layout option? There should still be an option somewhere in Windows settings that allows you to change the layout. I don't recall any thinkpad needing special drivers for different keyboards.

SOLVED. I had to install the language as the Windows option of Spanish keyboard English language does not work. As soon as I added Spanish language support all was well. Still typing in English, but the rest of the keyboard characters are now in the right place.
