Anything interesting about these?

I don't want to lead the conversation too much, since I don't have an answer, but is anything interesting about either of these 81+ batteries? If so, what?

Thanks!

Sorry if they're too big. Here's the gallery: http://www.theimagedepot.com/p902456343

Thanks!

They ARE big in filesize; about 150KB versus the forum's suggestion of 50KB. If possible, please compress the JPEG a little more and/or resize them.

As far as what's interesting about them... nothing that I can see from taking a quick look at the labels. The FRU's are different which would say that the cells inside are made by different manufacturers. What I'm sort of surprised is that no mention is explicitly made of the cell's country of origin. However, checking some of my 'newer' systems listed in my .sig, not all of them do this either.

Both are T430s batteries, the first one is a Panasonic, the second - Sanyo. Production date seems ok for both.

One Of the batteries came with a t430s I just boight. In stress testing it, there has been some odd behavior (shuts off spontaneously after a minute or so, but only whe. The battery is installed AND the power supply is plugged in). I was wondering if the battery was fake or not - power manager said it had 87 cycles but 100% of design capacity left (slightly more, actually).

So it looks like it's either legit or a really really good fake. I'm running more tests trying to narrow it down. Without that battery, but a different one, it runs the whole self-test fine. With it, turns off after a minute or so.

I havent rules out the power supply being funky, or even the outlet messing with things.

Is there a serial number database for batteries I can check? Would the recall site say whether a serial number is legit or not for a given battery?

The only check on battery serial numbers that I know of is for checking to see if it is part of a recall. The automated solution reads the battery serial number from the embedded EPROM and says "yea" or "nay" if you should send it back. From what I can tell, T430s batteries have not been subjected to a recall notice as of yet.

Spoke too soon - I'm getting sudden power-downs when I either insert a battery, remove a battery, or insert the power plug. The EC is stock, and the Battery light blinks in a pattern:

Insert power plug - 3 blinks (normal) <random pause>, Long, Short, 3 blinks.

Thoughts? A bummer.

Bummer, contacted seller who insisted that sliding the black locking tab was necessary and that "tech support" told him to do that previously, and he forgot to disclose that. Yeah.... and he installed a Russian hacked version of Windows 10 because it was a "waste of time" to install legit Windows 7 and then do a proper upgrade "but I checked it with Windows Defender - no malware!"

<Sigh> I really had hope for this project. I think it needs a new motherboard - I even tried swapping out the power-sub-board to see if that would help, but didn't change anything.

Thanks for the eyes & suggestions!
