t440p won't recognize Ultrabay SSD at bootup, but recognizes it during use.

During bootup, I get the 2105 error where it can't recognize the harddrive that is connected via Ultrabay.
However, after bootup, I can see it in Disk Manager and in Windows Explorer.
Before I got the ultrabay, I had a DVD drive in there, and it worked fine - zero problems.
Any ideas?

Maybe a boot order problem. Have you tired that?
Changing it from ultrabay dvd to ultrabay hdd might still need to be changed in bios if you want to boot from it. Secondly the drive's content might not be bootable but still be recogizable.
Hallo, wot ya got?

Please tell us what you got. Did you get the genuine original Lenovo part (
ThinkPad® 9.5mm SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter IV)? Did you get a
branded third-party part (
such as NewMode)? Or did you get an unbranded anonymous generic aftermarket tray?
I suspect you have a generic tray which does not conform to standard. (I do not know whether standard is de-jure or de-facto.) Using an ohmmeter, measure resistances, in slimline SATA plug power pins, in both drives ('worked fine' DVD, subject adapter tray):
• Between pin 1 (Device Present) and ground pins 5 6.
• Between pin 4 (Manufacturing Diagnostic) and ground pins 5 6.
Here is an annotated photo, to help you to locate correct pins.
