Removing the click of TP t450 keyboard

#1 Post by Narniu » Sun Sep 04, 2016 10:29 am

The ThinkPad t450 is an excellent laptop except for one aspect.
The keys of the keyboard are very clicky.
Other than the click force there is very little pushback from the key.
Is it possible to modify the keyboard to remove this clickiness?
If the click is due to a bump or protrusion somewhere I would be OK with snipping that off on each key.
It might also be nice to put something like an o-ring inside each key to soften the impact when the keys bottom out.
The t450 keyboard is better than that of the t460 since there is more key travel but... The clickiness is hard to accept.
Thanks

There are different manufacturers of the keyboards, which will give slightly different feedback.

As for how many different makers there are, or their part numbers, hopefully someone else can chime in.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53
