A while back rmsmajestic was selling a few FHD upgrade boards for the t420/t430/t420s/t430s. JJ is still working on a revision to fix the flickering issue on the t420/t430, but there's no ETA. I've been bouncing a few emails with rmsmajestic about upgrading, but I think he's taking a small break from future orders. So I'm going to pull the trigger myself.

Right now, the FHD option by 51nb members is pretty much exclusively related to the t420s and t430s, which seems to be free from the issue. Wondering if anyone else was interested in making the upgrade. I'll be making an order for a batch pretty soon to try out the 2K and FHD on the T430s.

I'd be up for it. Which seller did you have in mind?

What do you mean? I think RMSmajestic took preorders then made one big order. Don't remember if he took payment with the preorders, but I'm thinking about doing it a different way - I'll make one big order and foot the bill, and people buy from me stateside with probably something like bitcoins or paypal.

I'm not sure if this is correct but I thought RMSmajestic was selling JJ's kit which they customized personally, and that there are other sellers of the same/similar kit, and one in particular that uses the DP lane from docking port rendering a dock unusable. I remember seeing some kits on some other Chinese vendor site. Anyhow, let us know when you put an order together. Cheers!

I'm planning to buy FHD from JJ, just had a chat with him yesterday.

That sounds great! And out of curiosity, any word on the 2k kit? Did the non-s kit come up in the conversation?

Basically, non-s not likely anytime soon. And 2k there already exists a WHQD kit, but it requires some solder work. No-solder 2k kit, maybe...

Yeah, I was just wondering if any one had any technical details of why it couldn't work (besides signal interference).
If it's not much of a hassle, then I can also go for the solder version of the 2k kit along with the fhd kit. Just to tinker...

Yes please, I need a 2K kit for my T430s that doesn't break the dock connector.

I've seen some kits that break dock connection functionality, so I'm hoping that I can get a 1440p screen while keeping the dock.

Maybe this is a really dumb question, but would it be possible to cram a slightly larger than 14" screen into the T430 ala the 51nb x330 mod?

I'm not sure what they did to the bezel in that instance, but I would imagine a jig + a dremel and some very careful sanding could do it. I'd be mostly interested in getting a 16:10 screen rather than 16:9 though.

The problem is that the x2** series has a resonabpe bezel and small screens have little bezel. On the bigger t series, as the screens get larger so do the bezels. My t42 screen has atleast 3/4" total but my x series has less than 1/4".

Looking at datasheets for various panels and comparing them to the T430s factory panels, along with comparing what was done to the X220/30, it looks like a larger screen swap should be doable. It may require a bit of elbow grease and running some wire differently.

The problem is the only panels I can find that could fit are in the 14.5-15" class. A size that has been neglected by panel makers for years and consequently they are pretty low resolution. It wouldn't be any kind of upgrade in resolution unfortunately. But hey, maybe someone will come out with a 14.5 wqhd panel before the non-s converter boards are done

It'd also be nice to find the datasheet for the oled used in the Yoga X1. From what I can find its apparently edp, and it should fit. However the only way to bu a panel that I can find is through IBM at an insane price.
