T450 Puzzle!

Used T450

Looks great condition - little use - except for the bottom casing a few cracks due to poor opening - nothing major though - very small.

Did a lookup on serial on the Lenovo site via BIOS and Motherboard check, still under warranty for a year and a half.

Problems:
Every original part seems to have changed outside of the motherboard on a machine that only went into warranty 1.5 years ago!!

Keyboard not SE (Sweden) but UK (and warranty originally Finland) - why would somebody go to all the trouble to change this !?
SSD Disk not Samsung 128GB but Micron 256GB (and SMART shows it is new)
Panel not AUO HD+ but Innolux FHD (TN) - lid looks untouched as if this was professionally changed if indeed it was - camera works fine as well
BAT0 (internal) not PAN but Samsung - has an FRU slightly different (BAT1 OK)
Not 8x1 DDR3L but 4+4 DDR3L
and of course :) PSU is 45N0495 (65W) not original 45N0492 (45W)

Weird. Other than that seems working without issues.

Obvious bottom casing has been off as the T450 back needs careful handling and a slight bottom casing crack nr USB ports either side shows somebody didn't realise this :)

I'm finding this hard to explain to myself... how could it differ so much from its factory spec as its in warranty and not that old?

Is this an auction or sale you're looking at?

It looks to me like parts were changed out. Maybe the original owner didn't want to send the machine into the depot for warranty work. (I assume).

Speaking of warranty is it a depot only warranty or an on-site warranty?

Either way, I'd be cautious about a purchase if the machine was abused or mis-treated. That being said it still has warranty, so send it in get everything checked out. Although you may run the risk of Lenovo voiding the warranty if they determine that parts that are not CRU's were replaced by a non-Lenovo authorized service center.

Maybe the motherboard was replaced and the serial number you have is completely different to the original one for that machine maybe?

Well I purchased it online, yes... it seems to work 100% and passes all Motherboard (and Disk/Memory) Diagnostics. So its all OK there.

The T450 I am sure never came with an Innolux FHD TN screen so that was replaced.

Hope it never needs warranty repair though.

So I guess I can call them out if the motherboard fails?

Many thanks!
