Adding to my Collection... Thoughts?

#1 Post by TechDude98 » Mon May 08, 2017 9:52 am

Got my first Lenovo T430 the other day and I'm loving it so far.

T430 (Personal)
Core i7 @2.9GHz
16GB RAM
120GB SSD (Hoping to add an extra drive in the ultrabay)
Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64
9-Cell Battery

T530 (College - Information Technology Major)
Core i7 @ 2.9GHz
8GB RAM
80GB SSD
500GB SATA HDD (Ultrabay)
Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64
9-Cell Battery

Found another T430 on eBay that I might add to my collection. Personally, I like the T530 for college (it's what I'm typing this post with) but it can feel bulky and heavy at times compared to my T430. I've already set aside $250 for another Lenovo ThinkPad, just want some suggestions on what to get. Maybe another T430 or T430s?

A W520 with quad core and 16 or 32 GB of memory and a 500 GB SSD would be nice.

Why would you want something so similar to what you've got now? I say a X220 or X230 is at least somewhat smaller and more portable. Plus, with the nine-cell battery, they get phenomenal battery life.

I think my best case scenario would be to sell the other two, add your $250 and get a T450s with FHD IPS screen. It's a much better screen to look at than the others. The T450s can do a M.2 SSD and 7mm platter drive, which go up to 2TB. I have this drive in my Dell. Good luck and welcome to TPF.
