Sleep sensor under screen bezel issues T530

#1 Post by Brandon0623 » Fri Jun 02, 2017 9:11 pm

I recently dropped my T530 and the sensor underneath the screen bezel had the black, I'm assuming, magnet fall off. Does anyone know the best and possibly cheapest way to get the sensor repaired as now my T530 does not recognize when the screen is closed.

Either the magnet was dislodged from its original position, or the sensor itself was damaged.

If it's the former, you just need to put the magnet back in place. Unfortunately I don't have a T530 so I don't know where it should be.

Check this link: https://replacethinkpadscreen.blogspot. ... creen.html
Search there for sensor to see a picture of its location.
It sits inside the lid, left of the LCD.
My guess is that the magnet is still there, just dislocated. Remove the LCD-bezel to check.

Just run a magnet over the area where the sensor is located and see if the screen responds. If it does then you will likely just need to reposition the original magnet. It's pretty straightforward with the maintenance manual.

As you can see from the picture attached, the magnet seems to be missing. Does anyone know if this can be replaced, and if so, how much it would cost to replace this?Image
