Won't remember WiFi Password
Won't remember WiFi Password
I have a barely used Lenovo T530 that I'm letting my wife use and I'm noticing that for some reason when we connect to our WiFi.... the laptop is not automatically remembering the password.
Does anyone know of any settings that could resolve this and how to get to them?

This is an operating system issue, not a hardware issue. Which OS are you using?Rockrz wrote:I have a barely used Lenovo T530 that I'm letting my wife use and I'm noticing that for some reason when we connect to our WiFi.... the laptop is not automatically remembering the password.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

This should help: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 49e4f51fde
And I also saw this:
And I also saw this:
The WLAN password is encrypted and stored in an XML file in c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Wlansvc\Profiles\Interfaces\..GUID\.
However, the xml file was being deleted so the settings not kept. I made the file ReadOnly after logging in and connecting and now all is fixed.
Goodness knows why this is happening though.
(You need admin rights to be able to change the file attributes).
Lovely day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And pigs CAN fly!

Thanks for the info!
For whatever reason, the password started sticking and has been working OK ever since.
Must have just been a temporary glitch in brutha Bill's operating system.
Next time, I'll just give him a ring at the big house
