T430s DVD drive won't latch

So I've run into a bit of a problem with a T430s.

Turns out the DVD drive won't properly latch sometimes, where it sometimes takes multiple tries to close the tray.
The behavior persists even when the drive is removed from the machine, and the drive functions properly otherwise (and is held securely in its mount inside the machine).

Any ideas on likely causes/fixes?

Probably one mechanical issue or another.

1. Weak spring
2. Part of the latch that keeps the tray shut is broken

I have similar problem. But in my case the cause is known: a moving piece of the latch inside UltraBay that was preventing the drive/caddy/battery from sliding out broke off some time ago. Any ideas how to repair it or what part to replace it with?

Thanks, I suppose it might! I will try repairing it when I finally get to open the laptop to change thermal paste. For now the DVD/caddy/battery is held in place by the internal SATA/power port friction even if you turn the laptop UltraBay side down. Just don't shake it.
