T470s NVMe drive & Windows 7

#1 Post by caffemocha » Wed Oct 18, 2017 9:51 pm

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. My team has hit a wall with the new T470s laptops we just received.

We have a WDS server in place so everytime we get a new laptop or desktop model, an image is created.

Well, all that went fine up to the T460. Now with the T470s and its new fangle NVMe PCIe SSD, we can't even get Windows 7 to see the SSD.

We have downloaded the SCCM package for Windows 7 from Lenovo and injected the files as needed and still we can't install to the SSD.

So I suggested to take a few steps back and inject the NVMe hotfix and the driver to the actual Windows 7 ISO. That still didn't work. It either doesn't see the SSD or it crashes when trying to load the NVMe Intel driver.

Lenovo does not have the actual drivers for Windows 7 either. All they have are some firmware updating utilities.

Has anyone else here ran into this dilemma? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.
You are probably missing NVMe and USB3.0 drivers.
This might be the solution: https://support.lenovo.com/lk/en/solutions/ht103541
