Hi, everyone,
Maybe my question is just scratched from ignorance. I've been using my TP 460 (Win 10) everyday just to study (Word, EndNote, Chrome... that stuff.) Battery usually gave me 6 to 7 fantastic hours of fine work. However, just a couple of days ago, the battery icon in the taskbar has gone: nor hidden, nor shaded---just gone.
When looking at "Select which icons appear on the taskbar", in Settings, "Power" is on. When looking at "Turn system icons on or off", the "Power" button appears shaded, with no possibility of turning it on or off (even though it appears as "On").
I tried to clear all static from PC. So I removed the power cord and the battery, and prepared to push the power button several times, you know... But to my surprise, the computer started... and kept working for almost two hours! I don't get it: no battery, no power cord!
I waited until the power got drained. I put on the battery again, and it appears that the battery is charged up to 66 % So weird! And the icon is still missing.
What is happening? Any ideas, please? Should I press the reset pin after this?
Best regards,

Re: TP 460 weird battery behavior
The T460 has an INTERNAL and an EXTERNAL battery.
You need to fully switch off the laptop, then open it up and also remove the internal battery, before the hardware reset (holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds) works.

Re: TP 460 weird battery behavior
Thank you very much, RealBlackStuff. Wow, I'm embarrassed! I didn't know that! Thanks for the useful link to another thread.
And how can I know which battery discharges in first place? Can this feature be related to the fact that the power icon dissappears from time to time? (Because, just for the record, now that I shut down the equipment and turned it on again, the icon has returned.)
Regards,

Re: TP 460 weird battery behavior
If you want to shut it pff without taling it apart, go into the BIOS and disable the internal battery. Then you can press the pwr button for 15 seconds.
