Another thing, we got a lot of those machines and the keyboard is very cheap plastic feeling and the keys aren’t as clicky as my X1C6 for example

WHO GIVES A CRAP? Seriously.
It's like discussing the aftermath of a level 5 hurricane hitting a small coastal town and commenting that "some residents have reported that the clothes they left to dry on their porch got wet".

More interesting some trackpoints are made by ELAN now, instead of Synaptics.
By the way Thinkpads are always built of plastic and especially in the case of T61-T500 have been described as cheap plastic feeling (which is true compared to T40 series, where palmrest has metal in it), despite the later generations T410 up using even thinner plastic. Everytime I take off T520's palmrest, for example, it breaks in a new place if I'm not super careful.

Funny though, because the base of the T480s this thread is about is pretty much all metal.

Re: T480s keyboards reported to have cheap plastic feel
I find it kind of funny know TP fans praise the 701C for being a good machine. It is built like crap and it has a really bad keyboard(feel) and is quite useless. Everyone who didn't have one wants one but in reality these things used to jam all the time, had no internal floppy and it had the power switch put in a place you couldn't reach it if the machine was on. The folding keyboard is cool, but that doesn't make it a good computer.TPFanatic wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 2:52 pmMore interesting some trackpoints are made by ELAN now, instead of Synaptics.

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Well, then the keyboard on my T480 feels just like my old T430s... so well it's plastic.. .what can I say.

Get Let's Note from Panasonic - it's 80% Mg!
Modified T470 to look like TP Anniversary Edition; TP 25; E550; T540p; wants a T420 or P1 to see what's good.
