T440s/UltraDock/DisplayPort, only getting 2560x1440

#1 Post by dbsanders » Thu Mar 15, 2018 6:15 pm

Just bought an Acer E430k 4K monitor, and from what I read I thought I'd be getting 3840x2160.

I have the UltraDock 90W, and looking at this page:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd029622

According to that, I should get 3840x2160, no?

I have the Intel 4400 graphics card.

The max resolution is showing 2560x1440.

Windows 7 (if it matters)

Note: It is 3840x2160 @ 30Hz. I think some monitors can't handle that. I'm not totally sure. The reason might be a bandwith limitation as both peak around the same area of 245~248Mhz pixel clock. It detects the display as an E430k and not as a Generic-PNP display?
Probably should be Thinkpad16by10.

Looking For: 386 laptop, IBM or not.

Hmmm it appears my max may be 3200x2000@60Hz with the Intel i5-4300U w/4400 graphics. Crap.

I do see "Acer ET430K" in the display's name on the panel where you change resolutions. However when I visit the monitor properties, it does say Generic PnP Monitor. Wonder if a driver would help, or if I'm stuck with my max resolution on the 4400 graphics.

Yea it probably thinks you have a generic monitor and is trying to feed it generic monitor signals, hence the lock of 60Hz.

You can get the driver here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/s ... oduct/6968
Probably should be Thinkpad16by10.
