T440p Trackpad Mod

#1 Post by Scottfish » Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:40 am

I could have sworn I watched a YouTube video tutorial of this mod, but now I cannot find it. Have a backlit keyboard and a trackpad on the way right now. The keyboard seems super easy, but I know the trackpad will be a little trickier.

Does anyone have a link to a how-to on this?

I am loving this model so far.

I think so. I was thrown off by the lack of a "P" when I searched. Thank you!

I never actually found a "perfect" how to, but watching what I did see helped. For anyone who is getting stuck w/ palmrest/bezel removal, here is where I got hung up:

- There is a screw under the DVD drive (once screws are removed, drive just slides out)
- There are three screws under the battery that need to be removed

Once I figured this out, it was a breeze. New backlit keyboard and trackpad work brilliantly. As an added bonus, I know no one else's grubby mitts have been typing or mousing on these surfaces.

I am very happy w/ the T440p and there's something so satisfying about being able to work on a machine like this.
