T440p Battery Vendor/Replacement

#1 Post by Scottfish » Thu May 24, 2018 9:23 am

I am now very happy w/ my T440p after my mods, but a new battery is in the cards for battery life.

Any suggestions on replacement batteries. I am partial to Amazon Prime (because impatient), but if that's not the best avenue, I am open to other suggestions too.

**edit** Easy enough. Amazon had actual Lenovo batteries.

If external make sure you look at the 72Wh not the 48Wh model (they look the same size) .... many people have made that mistake when buying an extended battery, thinking there is only one model.

Some Battery stats may find of interest (via Fedora 24/25 Linux powertop and tlp tuning)

T450 FHD TN 8GB/256GB about 4.9W/hour average
T550 3K IPS 16GB/256GB about 10.2W/hour average

T550 sucks double the power... screen on its own takes 5W/hour!

2018: T550/16/IPS 3K Touch/72Wh
2007-2018: T450, T520/i7-2760QM/8GB/320GB, WSXGA+, X200s, T500, A31p, A30p, T42p, X60s, X32, X31
Gone but not forgotten 1998-2006: 2006 T43p 2668-H2G (2GB/60), T22 2648-8EG (128/20) 2005 X40, X31 2004 T30 SXGA+, 600X, 2003 770 P233+DVD Card, 760XD 1998 760XL+104MB

Problem is, the 48Wh and 72Wh are the same size bizarrely (at least from what I can see online, never seen the 48Wh in person) as mentioned... very confusing.

The 72Wh is obviously a far better option, glad it worked out for you, use that battery every day, previously on T450 now T550 and they are superb, will last a good few years of heavy use.

Back to square one on the battery front. The one I ordered had a very poorly/shadily worded item description.

T440p was listed in all of the models it DOESN'T work for. By the logic they used, they should also have other things it doesn't work for like potatoes, toaster ovens, ferrets, etc...

Still on me for reading it wrong.
