Is there some reason there are so many used t530, 540, 560, and 570 for sale but so few 550?

The 50 series was short-lived due to the abbreviated Broadwell cycle which was something Intel set. There were delays with the shrink to 14nm for Broadwell after Haswell and instead of delaying Sky Lake, they shortened Broadwell's life cycle. As a result 50 series machines didn't start shipping until a few months before the 60 series was introduced.
