Where to get new T430 BIOS/CMOS battery?

#1 Post by sonicwind » Wed Jun 20, 2018 6:55 pm

Where can I get a new T430 BIOS/CMOS battery? It looks like Lenovo no longer sells them.

All the places in a Google search look somewhat shady or otherwise questionable.

Thanks.

It doesn't have to be Lenovo (they don't actually make them). Pretty much any CMOS battery will do, so long as you get the right connector, or you could transplant the connector from you wasted one.

Thanks for the reply TankPad.

I've only ever used the desktop type. You just push the new one down into the slot. No connector with wires. I don't actually have my ThinkPad yet, a friend is sending me one but I need to replace the CMOS.

Lenovo laptops seem to have these connectors with wires as you say.

Are you saying it's possible to replace the battery inside this thing attached to the connecting wires? I assume it's a standard CR2032?

It's actually just a coin cell battery just like a desktop, except its in shrink wrapping with cables on it. Usually a 2025 type cell or similar.
