Lid sensor problem

#1 Post by pictux » Wed Jul 25, 2018 2:34 am

Hi everybody,
I add a new issue to the list, for my T440s :)
I have this problem with the lid, that if i move it around a certain angulation (let's say a bit under 90°) the display starts blinking until i move it a little and then the screen goes locked.
I think it's due to the lid sensor.
(In the maintenance book i'm not able to find any information on this sensor)

Any suggestion?
Thanks
M

I'm not sore about T440s but I have a T540p which uses magnets for lid sensor with couple magnets in the lid and couple under palrest near trackpad. You can pass over them with screw driver to see where they are. I lost one of them so now it never senses the lid closed and I need to manually tell it to sleep / hibernate or shutdown.

I think your symptoms point to a bad cable or loose connection. I would start by downloading HMM and finding repair videos and see how monitor data and power cable are connected.
