T450 brightness woes.

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Sun Aug 19, 2018 9:41 pm

I got a T450 with a 1366x768 TN panel and I did exactly what everyone would do, replace it with a 1080p IPS panel(and let it burn in hell where it belongs). Well I bought an LG panel 04X5916 FROM LENOVO(not eBay) and the brightness doesn't work. It is a legit panel, the EDID matches to be a Lenovo panel, yet the brightness doesn't work. Lenovo's site matched to be a compatible screen. I am using s̶p̶y̶w̶a̶r̶e̶...err...Windows 10.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Return it for a refund or a working/tested replacement!
But run a Linux-Live from a USB stick first to check if brightness works there.

T440p and T450 can use the same panels.
