Clean install Windows 10 on Thinkpad T430s

#1 Post by afton » Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:49 am

Has anyone ever successfully installed Windows 10 on Thinkpad T430s?

I downloaded the .iso file from Microsoft website and burned it onto USB using Rufus, also tried using Media Creation tool method.

Whenever I tried to boot from the USB flash drive I kept getting the error message:

"The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing"

File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi

Error code: 0x0000225

I've enabled the UEFI boot from BIOS, and set the SATA mode to AHCI.

I've tried three different USB drives and also different USB ports.

Unfortunately the DVD burner on my T430s is not working so I can only use USB drive for installation.

Thanks for your help!

Try this:
NTFS format USB drive with single partition
Mark partition as active using diskpart
diskpart
list disk
select disk 4 (whatever USB is)
list partition
detail partition
select partition 5 (whatever USB partition is)
active
Use 7-zip to extract iso in root of USB drive.

You can also try dd writing in rufus.

Try using the Windows 10 media creation tool and select "create bootable usb".
