I need help about T440

#1 Post by olylyly » Thu Jan 03, 2019 2:32 am

Hi all,
I recently purchased a refurbished T440, it's been a great workhorse running debian.
However, I have been hitting issues where I've been running low on RAM (Slack + Chrome + VSCode), so I wanted to try to put another DIMM in it.
However, when I tried to open it up, I found that the screws were WAYYY over-torqued, to the point that I can't get them out without stripping them.

How safe do you think it would be to drill out some of the screws? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.
Do you use a proper tool, something like this Wiha Phillips #1 precision screwdriver https://www.ebay.com/itm/231758653490
You can also try to fractionally tighten it first, then try to loosen the screw.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
