Hello everyone.
Just noticed something about the time in my T-430 Lenovo The time in the BIOS time settings is four hours ahead of the time in Linux Mint 19.1 It doesn't affect the time in Linux Mint which is what I use for time and date. Is it OK to use it this way or will there be some kind of problems down the road. If I change the time in the BIOS to the same time as in Mint then the time in Mint changes to the four hour difference.
Thanks:
Rich.

Re: BIOS time different
It's fine. Most OS on a lot of devices checks the time against an accurate site somewhere. The BIOS time was not meant nor used as an accurate time piece but is good enough.
Having said that, it's simple enough to hit F1 at reboot and change the time in BIOS.

Re: BIOS time different
When ever I change the bios to the correct time, the OS system time changes to the incorrect time( four hour difference).
Thanks
Rich.

Re: BIOS time different
Linux sets the BIOS time to UTC. I suppose your time zone is 4 hours away from it?
This can be a problem when dual-booting Linux and Windows, where BIOS time is set to local time. There's a registry setting to make Windows interpret BIOS time to UTC.
