replacing a rear screen lid for a T430s, big big problem
replacing a rear screen lid for a T430s, big big problem
Reposting
so, wife had the lid cracked, got a replacement off ebay.
I took out the battery, I pushed the start button for like 10 seconds to completly discharge
I popped the bezel, undid the screws, than I undid the 4 screws holding the LCD panel, than came the 2 screws for the antenas, plus the screw for the webcam and the one for the lower status leds, finally unscrewed the rear lid from the hinges , tadaaaa, free at last, I replaced it with the new lid, put everything back in reverse order, start the computer, and NOTHING!!!!!!!!!
I mean the computer starts, but there is nothing on the screen. I took extra care when manipulating the screen and when puting the bezel back etc etc, and yet, here I am with an angry wife.
please help.

Was the LCD working before your 'operation'?
Did you by accident unplug the LCD-cable (or squeezed it during re-mounting)?

you mean if I unpluged it from the mobo or from the LCD panel?RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:20 pmDid you by accident unplug the LCD-cable (or squeezed it during re-mounting)?
the main case was not opened, just the panel holding the LCD was opened, and I did not unplug from the LCD panel, i double checked, but since the main body was not opened, I dont know what went on inside it, do you believe it could have snapped out of its place?
as for squeezing yes, there is no other way to manipulate it, since its not a rigid object, its soft, so when you touch you basically squeeze it a bit

Re: replacing a rear screen lid for a T430s, big big problem
Open the lid up, take the LCD out of the lid, but leave it connected and see if it now works.
If yes, be very careful during reassembly.

Re: replacing a rear screen lid for a T430s, big big problem
Since she is not a Thinkpad, I don't know if we can fix that. Did you find an HMM for her?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

hardware maintenance manual. See the HMM link at the top, it is a manual for each thinkpad on exactly how to fix it and what to take a apart to fix anything that goes wrong on it. Take a look at the T430s one here: https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_p ... 304_03.pdf
