T460p suggestions

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Fri May 10, 2019 2:41 am

Since I'm ready to get rid of my T440p soon I'm gonna get an almost fully maxed out T460p to replace it with but want suggestions... while looking at the platform specs sheet from Lenovo on the T460p it doesn't show what cpu is available with what graphics... I'm wanting to know if the quad core i5 is avaliable with the GTX 940 MX or do I need to get the i7 as I require the dedicated graphics card.... Also how are SSHD drives? I'm needing to upgrade to a 1tb drive since my 500 gb in the T440p is almost full but can't justify the price of a 1tb SSD right now so how are solid state hybrid drives? I won't be able to use 2 drives as well because there is no optical drive bay to add an hdd to and my second m.2 slot will have an em7455 card in it so can't dual ssd... I will have the 1080p display as well as the 6 cell 72wh battery... if you guys have any more suggestions for this machine let me know....

You can see which configuration options are available in the PSREF:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T460p

SSHD are more like an HDD in performance than an SSD.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), X1 Carbon (20HQ), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad, A21m 2628-GXU

that's awesome! says the i5-6440 and i7-6820 are the only ones that are available with GTX 940MX (or any Graphics for that matter) in reign US... the i5-6300 and i7-6700 aren't available in the us? all t460/s/p came with dedicated graphics options but only the T460p came with quad core CPU... if possible i'd like to get the i5-6300HQ with GTX 940MX but i'd need to get one for parts as most of the ones I've found are going for more then T470p (wouldn't be bad over a T460p)
