T430s slice battery

#1 Post by wujstefan » Fri Jul 05, 2019 8:23 am

Hello,

Have anyone tested a T430s with slice battery 28++?

On Lenovo's website T430s is not mentioned as compatible, but in T430s flyer 28++ battery is stated as an option.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!

Well, for sure it won't align well with the chassis, because T430s docking connector is further back compared to T430/T530. The bigger question is whether the docking connector pin-out has slice battery support. It's theoretically possible that they didn't add that on the slim models, because they made provisions for the Ultrabay battery. I'll try to check some schematics to figure that out.

Couldn't find T430s schematics, but at least on T420s pinout, it looks like all the signals related to slice battery in the docking connector (DOCK_SBAT_PWR, DOCK_BAT_GATE, SLICE_EJECT_LEVER, etc.) are not connected to anything. I would expect the T430s to be the same, so - no slice battery. :(
