What are all the configurations of different ways you can install one or multiple ssds in the T460p? Would like to know before buying one... Can't justify a 1TB SDD so multiple drives might be the way to go... Can it be done? I can't add an additional SSD to the cd drive since it doesn't have one..

Re: T460p ssd configuration options
Multiple SSDs? Unless you mean 1 smaller SSD + 1 larger HDD, then a 1TB SSD is going to be cheaper than two smaller ones.

Re: T460p ssd configuration options
You have the 2.5" x 9.5mm SATA drive bay and the M.2 2242 SATA slot.
The M.2 slot can take a max 512 GB drive and unfortunately no top-tier brands make drives in that form factor. Best available is probably Transcend; slower than big names but probably not enough to notice.
As dr_st said, a 1 TB 2.5" SSD will probably be cheaper than two smaller ones would be. 256 GB and smaller drives especially are far more per GB than anything larger in the same product line [EDIT: also lower-capacity drives tend to have lower performance].
Probably only good reason to want two physical drives is for redundancy; I like to have an extra drive I can boot from if primary fails or is corrupted.
EDIT: Transcend now has an MTS430S 512 GB drive available for M.2 SATA 42mm. This is a TLC drive and much less expensive than the MLC MTS400 now.

Re: T460p ssd configuration options
The M.2 slot on T460p is very limited, I assume that is only functional with specific Lenovo option parts for it.
Recently I tried to install an WesternDigital SN520 2242 M.2 Nvme SSD on it, since it only allows 2242 M.2 B-key type (https://www.westerndigital.com/products ... -sn520-ssd), but it was not recognized since it results in boot error "2102: Detection error on ssd1 (M.2)".
In "2.5" SATA/SATA express" hdd slot this same SSD Nvme drive can be used together with the Lenovo's option part for T470p named "SSD ADAPTER BRACKET SM12Y000400 M.2 2280" FRU 01HY319, working with full 16Gb/s data transfer bandwidth.
