t490 w/better specs same price as 480?

#1 Post by jayweb91 » Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:34 am

My first post, I was lucky enough to buy a t480 2 months ago at costco for $980 after taxes, I just purchased a t490 on my through my company's discount site that had far better specs and will will return one or the other. I see alot of people claiming the t480 is superior mostly due to the power bridge and up gradable ram. I am not a very computer savvy person but the screen quality is important to me, I mainly watch videos online, nothing all that taxing, no gaming or linux or advanced stuff. I'm not in love with my t480's fhd display.... I'm not to concerned with hot swapping batts and I will never more than 16 gigs of ram

I purchased a
t480 i7 8th gen
256 SSD
8gb ram
Intel graphics
FHD 1080 screen
came with windows office
2 yr warranty through costco

Tonight I purchased a t490
16gb ram
newer i7 8th gen
512 SSD
FHD touch 1080 (which I hear is better looking display than t480)
only 1 yr warr

So if you were a casual user like me, which would be a better machine for the money... I'm going to have to return one I'm almost at the end of my 90 day window at costco....

From comments elsewhere, the T480 seems to be preferred over the T490.
But only you can decide which one you like better, for whatever reasons.
