T530 backlight fuse location?

#1 Post by moofish2842 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 6:46 pm

Recently, after replacing the screen with the battery installed on my t530, the backlight hasn't been working (tested with multiple working screens). I was able to figure out it is likely the backlight fuse and used this post: viewtopic.php?t=126143 to try to fix the problem. I couldn't figure out what fuse they actually meant though, and to make it worse the layout is different on my t530. As shown in this picture: https://imgur.com/a/oQ3y2X0 I tried bridging a couple of fuses that I guessed could be it, but the problem has not been fixed.
Did I bridge the wrong fuses? Do I need a new mobo? I really need this to work as it is kind of my main machine (but I will survive without it for a while).

On T530 the backlight fuse is F3, an SMD/surface mount fuse, 32V, 3A, fast.
Its size varies but is either 0402/1005 or (most likely) 0603/1608 (imperial/metric).
Location near the LCD-connector on the motherboard.
Measure fuses with a multimeter, set for Continuity.

Remove whatever mess you made around the F7 fuse.

When you get the (tiny) new fuse, piggyback-solder it on top of the old one.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And pigs CAN fly!
