As it turned out, it's not so simple. First I tried PANASONIC VVX16T028J00, wonderful 3K panel, just requires a 40pin cable instead of stock 30pin. So, I installed it, and everything worked fine, adjustments included. But even on max brightness it's noticeably more dim than a stock panel. Not that bad, to be honest, I can compare it to my t61 with with old ccfl lamps. But still, it's definitely not 350nit as it should be.
(To clarify - it's not power management issue and/or driver, I had everything set on max, tried many drivers and even OSes, it's max brightness as it is)
Second attempt, I installed B156HAN04.5, perfect panel too, 120Hz is no joke. Also it's FHD so no new cable needed, it's a straightforward replacement.
And, you guess what, the same issue with a brightness, I think somehow it's slightly better than 3k lcd, though it's 300nits.
Everything else working fine, 120 and 60Hz both available, 16 brightness levels on each mode.
I've been told that maybe that's some incompatibility problem, even had a suggestion to mod a cable to disable brightness competely, so it'll be always on max, but don't want to mess with it.
Maybe you have any ideas?
TN is brighter than IPS.
Brightness decreases as DPI increases.
lenovo T430s i5 3230m 16GB QHD w/ optimus(RIP), lenovo T430 i5 3320m 8GB FHD, lenovo T500 P9700 8GB WUXGA(LED) w/ switchable graphics
Enable 2 finger scroll on old Synaptics touchpads with registry.
Maybe, but just from specifications: stock TN N156HGE-EA2 : 250nit,
3K IPS VVX16T028J00 : 350nit, and IPS B156HAN04.5 : 300nit, and in reality both of them are significantly darker than TN, and for some reason B156HAN04.5 brighter than 3k one.
In fact, I _almost_ can live with B156HAN04.5, just not under direct sunlight. Stock TN was almost perfect under these conditions.
