Sure, but not in a long long time, that's not really a thing since people stopped using WEP security. But fair point, someone could indeed see a mac addy without joining a network if they're outside in their car running Backtrack Linux or similar. But that still doesn't let them into my network, much less my computer, and knowing my mac addy beforehand didn't do them any good whatsoever, since they can see anyone else's too. So it's not a security issue, and since my mac isn't visible over WAN it's not a privacy issue either. But if you think differently, I'd be curious to hear how exactly.

I have been on computers since the late 1960s (only mainframes in those early days) and one thing we were always warned about, was keeping our [network] connections strictly private.
I guess old habits die hard.

Just in case anybody else has similar issues unique to the Lenovo wifi compatibility, has anybody just removed the mini-PCI card and used a USB nano card instead?
