Requesting help with memory upgrade on my T450.
It had the standard Samsung 4GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800S-11-13-B4 (M471B5173DB0-YK0 module.
I am having the hardest time ordering the correct 8GB RAM stick that is correct and match the specs.
I ordered the wrong 8GB Samsung stick from Amazon (my own fault, has the notch in the wrong place)
I ordered a second module from Amazon that arrived today. It is a Samsung 8GB 2Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-13-F3 (please note the 2Rx8)
Question: Have I ordered the correct 8GB stick this time? Will 2Rx8 work with the existing 1Rx8? Will it create a mismatch of sorts? I do not understand the 1R vs. 2R
I don't want to open and install the memory module and eat up another wrong module cost if it is not going to work.
I am sure others have done a successful upgrade on a T450 (not T450s). Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Re: T450 memory upgrade
1R = one row
2R = two rows of memory chips.
From experience: not all 1R modules work everywhere all the time, 2R generally do.
Since your 1R works, it'll cooperate nicely with that 2R.

Thank you sir
Re: T450 memory upgrade
The new 2Rx8 worked perfectly.
Another question: Would it be better to insert the new 8GB 2Rx8 in the first slot where the 4GB module was? My logic is having the 8GB stick take most of the buffering and cashing. Would love to hear opinions of how one would insert the 8GB and the original 4GB which was a 1Rx8.
Thanks all
