Having a bit of trouble with my wifi card connecting to a new router. Causes random 71 second freezes. Think it might be the original wifi card struggling with newer technology. I know that the T430S has a wifi whitelist, which I assume must identify the wifi cards that can be used. Does anyone know what wifi cards are on that whitelist? I'm confident to swop the hardware and update the driver, but would rather not get into BIOS-modification territory!
Thanks for any wisdom.

first, you posted in the wrong forum.. i moved your post to the correct forum..
next, you might want to reveal the wifi router you're using..
finally, i don't think you need to replace your wifi card, your issue might be updating your wifi router..
i would go there first.. update everything, firmware on the router and drivers on your thinkpad..

Re: Lenovo T430S replacement wifi card
Thank you for moving the post to the correct forum.
The router in question is TalkTalk's latest and finest the Sagemcom Fast 5364.
Router firmware is latest
Lenovo is completely uptodate, as is Win10.
Baffled and now considering changing the wifi card.

Never heard of Sagemcom till today.
It's not all smelling of roses, do a Google search (without quotation marks): "Sagemcom 5364 router problems" and weep.
As for your wifi-problems: I'd recommend the Intel AC-7260 wifi card.
To enable that, first run IVYPREP, then 1VYRAIN, they are described at the top of this Forum page.
It's only software, so no technical "hassle".
It was made for all Tx30/Xx30/Wx30 Thinkpad models.
I did it for my X230.
I have a similar setup at home, (Fiber To The House) FTTH from Eir, which came with their Eir-F2000 router/modem.
Since that Eir-F2000 is a piece of sh!te, I changed its settings to Bridge-mode (i.e. modem-only) and hooked that up to my trusty Asus RT-AC68U router.
No more problems.
