Will T470 run two 4k monitors?

#1 Post by Olwe » Thu Feb 20, 2020 11:54 pm

I've got a T470 in a docking station. I'm running one 4k monitor from the docking station DisplayPort. But the only other ports on the docking station are VGA and DVI. The T470 itself has an HDMI, though. So could I run two 4k monitors with one on the docking station and one on the laptop's HDMI?

The HDMI port will only run 4K @30Hz, I think.

You should be able to use the USB-C port on the laptop itself for 4K @60Hz DisplayPort output.

Whether there is an overall bandwidth limit, I am not sure. I recall there is at least one thread here where someone posted all the definitive answers about multiple screen output on laptops of this generation.
