T460 Graphics Card Issue.

#1 Post by mmpt007 » Wed Mar 11, 2020 6:04 am

Hi all, i recently purchased a thinkpad T460. It was reasonably cheap, and now I know why. I believe the GPU is dead. Im able to install windows 10, or even a linux distro, but as soon as the graphics drivers load, it resets. Ive tried disabling the drivers in windows, and as soon as windows decides to reinstall them through its auto update it dies.
Basically my question is, am i missing something? Ive tried every setting in the bios and makes no difference. Ive resorted to start hunting for another motherboard. But was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the matter. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

If your T460 has nVidia graphics, then it may be the cause. But if it only has Intel HD graphics, then it could either be a RAM issue, or the processor itself. "O

It's the Intel HD, so I tried new ram and no luck, it's seems to be the processor, time to buy a new motherboard.
Thanks for the reply.
