T480 locked BIOS

#1 Post by H-Atkinson » Mon Apr 06, 2020 4:40 pm

A friend of mine is offering a T480 to me thats BIOS locked. Id like to have the machine, but dont have experience cracking modern BIOS locks.

Would reflashing it with a modded BIOS using a hardware flasher, or reflashing a factory BIOS in the same way work?

Thanks!

For that you must indeed use an SPI serial flasher.
Read out one of two secure MEC1633L EEPROMs in a file, get someone to remove the password from that file, reflash that file.
(easier said than done).
A factory BIOS is useless in such a case.

Sorry for the late response, but thanks so much for this info and the help you provided over PMs. I was able to solve the issue.
