T430 Delta Fan replacement not fit in my T430 Toshiba
Hello all, so long story short, i have 2 T430, one with Delta fan, and its dead mobo, one with Toshiba fan which my daily driver laptop currently.
So i have plan to upgrade my i5 3320M to i7 3610QM or equal QM processor, and most of people on the forum gave me advice to also update my NOISY toshiba fan to Delta Fan.
As you know i allready have one delta fan from my dead T430, so ive been trying to replace my toshiba fan with it.
It was hours of painfull tryin to fit the complete Delta HSF in my T430 originally come with toshiba HSF, and it makes me confused. as far as i know, there's nothing that mention about not fit when replace toshiba hsf with delta hsf or vice versa, so anyone here can give me advice?
Can we easily just plug and play replace T430 Toshiba hsf with Delta hsf?
Thank you very much.
PS : i was trying to swap completely toshiba hsf to delta hsf. And it didnt fit.

The heatsink itself is the same design, but the fans themselves (between Delta and Toshiba) are different and have different mounting.
So you swap a complete heatsink-with-fan, but you cannot just swap fans, unless you are really handy with DIY.

Moreover, if the T430 are like the X230 that I worked with, you might even have a different fan header on the motherboard where some have 3pin and some have 4pin.

Re: T430 Delta Fan replacement not fit in my T430 Toshiba
ok, so i finally find out that delta hsf is more to be a quieter with a slightly worse cooling capability than a toshiba hsf in a few forums ( red**t, ka*kus, and several posts on internet ) so since i have plan to use i7 3612QM which is absolutely need better cooling, i decide to keep my toshiba hsf in my T430 ( ill keep the delta as a backup btw ) but for now, ill just use the toshiba hsf
PS : i just repaste with deepcool z9 and the result is very ok, not quieter, but cooler tbh.

Imo for Quad core better would be 2 pipe version of heating. Both, delta and toshiba have double heatpipe version. Second heatpipe is linkinf another radiator to GPU but even w/o GPU it provides better transport of heat, from processor.
I also heard that toshiba fan is louder, some people claim that this noise is annoying, and a little bit more efficient but honestly i didnt heard that this efficiency is much better. Much better are 2 heatpipe versions.
--------------------
Hey as i also Have problems with temperatures on ny t430 i5 3380 with Delta fan ( probably broken heatpipe) - had other piece also with delta and it had i would say, very nice temperatures
could you provide me your temperatures during stress tests? here is my topic viewtopic.php?t=130332
Prime95 torture test
1. test using max performance i5 with turbo
2. test with turbo boost disablet Power Options/ Advancer / processor energy management and use value 99% as max, remember that minimum has also to be no more than 99% - in this setting processor Turn off Turbo boost
3. test with downgrading processor to 2,5 GHZ ( in my case i have to use 90% value in these settings)
Frequency you can check using HwInfo

Toshiba fan in my T430 was a nightmare, like a jet airplane during take-off. Changed it for a brand new Delta and I felt like my PC is reborn
I'm successfully running one T430 with i7-3520M with iGPU and one i7-3632QM with DGPU, both with Delta cooling, and it works like a charm.

nightmare in terms of only noise or also the temp itself?Jake.Werecat wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 5:39 amToshiba fan in my T430 was a nightmare, like a jet airplane during take-off. Changed it for a brand new Delta and I felt like my PC is reborn

if its noise, as long as the temp is fine, i can deal with it lol

Re: T430 Delta Fan replacement not fit in my T430 Toshiba
On T430 with DGPU the noise on Toshiba fan was unbearable, temperatures were slightly higher the now, but still totally normal, I suppose this was due to old thermal paste, not the different type of cooler itself. I installed a brand new Delta heat pipe and used fresh high quality thermal paste when I changed to CPU to quad-core i7, and temperatures dropped a bit.
I observed similar drop in temperature on my T430, which already had Delta fan, I just re-pasted it without changing anything and temperatures also dropped a few degrees.
I haven't performed unbiased thermal efficiency tests, just confirmed noise level reduction.
