Any way to change brightness in BIOS on the T450S?

#1 Post by bluesteel649 » Wed Apr 29, 2020 4:09 pm

I recently got my hands on a Thinkpad T450S for the purpose of using Arca OS (OS/2 Warp distro, does not support UEFI, only Legacy) and while it's been surprisingly good to me so far, I've come across a major issue. While I can raise/lower the display brightness in Windows 10, Ubuntu and even Haiku OS, I'm unable to do so in the BIOS or Arca OS. The brightness is always stuck on max and I'm not sure how much more my eyes and batteries can handle it. If there's no option through the BIOS could it be done through a boot manager of some kind before starting the OS like GRUB/GRUB2?

If it helps at all, my panel is whitelisted and the BIOS Version is 1.37.

Thanks in advance :)

I have found this to be impossible since the 2009 refresh ThinkPads. Quite annoying.

It really is a shame, the most recent Thinkpad I find that allows me to change brightness in the BIOS is my Yoga 12 but it doesn't work quite as well with Arca OS as I need it to. I suppose I'll have to wait and hope for a solution to come by.
