T460 shuts off when unplugging computer

#1 Post by kevin22 » Sun May 03, 2020 4:20 pm

Hi guys, I bought this t460 used a few weeks ago and now when I unplug the ac plug from the computer with the battery on, the system shuts off. I'm not sure what's the problem, but it seems its power related. I'm not sure if its a battery problem, but when I unplug the PC I can just turn it back on unplugged with the battery on. Not sure how to fix this.

my os is windows 10. my computer has 2 batteries, a removable one and a internal one.

Has anybody gone through this problem too?

AM having a similar issue with my T430s. I bought a new battery listed as "compatible" and it charged up just fine. The moment I unplug the power charger, the laptop dies. The battery reads 100%.

Nobody has encountered or know of a solution to this? It doesn't seem like the battery whitelist since the battery charged (or the battery status indicator said it charged).

Scorpion8: In your case it's a defective battery. I've encountered batteries like that.
Daily driver: X220 4291-C91 i7-2620M

Backup: X601 Core 2 Duo T8100
Toy: X60F Core Solo U1300
On loan: X220 4291-P79 i5-2520M
In pieces: two retired but working X61Ts
RIP: 760XD 9546-U9E; X61 7676-A24; and a BOE-Hydis HV121P01-100 in failed SXGA+ mod

Thanks, that's what I was (sadly) hoping. I charged the new battery and it shutdown the moment the power was removed. So I charged it again (oddly it said 0%) and let it sit overnight. The next morning it also said 0% despite being on the charger, so I removed it to check the terminal connections, and then plugged it back in. Then it also said 0%, but within 5 minutes had hit 100%. Again the laptop died the second power was removed. I hope it turns out to be a faulty battery, it's on it's way back to the seller.

Anyone know what kind of Li-ion cells are inside a slim 81+ battery so I can rebuild my original battery?
