T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
So i was pulling apart my new t430 to change the thermal paste. I did that and then turned it back on and suddenly the middle button just acted like i click the scroll wheel on an actual mouse(rapidly accelerating the more you push) instead of how it used to be (scrolling at the same speed no matter what). I dont know why and its becoming really annoying since thats basically unusable for me. I hope someone can help me fix the button. I will give any info needed.

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
What operating system on are you on?
Also did you try removing the keyboard and then reconnecting the ribbon?
Not sure if this would help, but you could try this. Go to UltraNav, TrackPoint settings, Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass Function, Settings, Scrolling Type - Standard (not smooth). And then keep hitting apply and OK until all windows close.

Win10 and i dont have any ultranav or trackpoint setting or anything like that. Also for some reason windows started just bluescreening every time it starts and then tries again and its fine. This is even more weird. Im thinking of reinstalling windows. Good idea?

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
Oh I see. I'm actually not a Windows 10 user, so I don't know much about it. I'll try and dig around and see how you can get the UltraNav driver since you can control the settings that way.
Before you do anything drastic like completely reinstalling Windows, I would recommend backing up what you have and also looking around to see why it's bluescreening. So you initially went to put new thermal paste? How much did you put?
Have you checked that every connection is secure? Off the top of my head I would think to check these things: fan connection, possibly speaker connection if you moved it, WiFi card (the wires run pretty close to the fan), keyboard bezel assembly, keyboard, and just for good measure check that the hard drive is seated properly.

Here's a different post about Windows 10 and the UltraNav driver. Try the link in the second post and see if it works.

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
I put about a rice sized ammount. 100% sure all the things are fully plugged in and secure. (had to reinstall the palmreast like 3 times because of the snaps). I made sure all the wires are not touching the fan or anything like that. Again everything should be picture perfect under the hood and also i dont have anything important on the device. I basically got it a few days ago.

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
Alright, well everything sounds right physically based on what you're describing. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to resolve the blue screen. I stay away from Windows 10 because the updates like to break things. Perhaps you could try a new post about the issue and see if others can help out.
Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
The bluescreen ill figure out and if not ill reinstall the main thing is the trackpoint button. Thats the thing im more worried about tbh.

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
Welp i fixed it.
How i did it (not 100% sure why or how it worked.)- I went to the device manager and removed the synaptics pointing device (under mouse). Restarted and then i went and installed the 6hgx81ww driver ( https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/6hgx82ww.exe ) And for some reason it worked. Hope this helps someone
Also thanks to the guy that replied with the other post.
Edit:Bluescreen was fixed by this too.

Re: T430 middle mouse button not working correctly
Huh, that's interesting that a mouse driver would fix a blue screen. Yeah Synaptics is the default driver that loads in Windows.
Glad you got your problem fixed. Hope you have fun with your T430, it's a good machine.
