Hello,
I'm wondering if there are known issues and if so hopefully known fixes, for the T series fingerprint readers.
The reader on my T480 is woefully unreliable- I have to make multiple attempts to use it, and usually takes 3 tries to get it to recognise a fingerprint (half the time I run out of attempts and need to use a password.)
I've tried re-registering my fingerprints multiple times, a combination of hard and light touches. A friend with another T480 reports the same problems. My old Thinkpad, an X201 with a swipe-style reader, worked with close to a 100% accuracy.
I thought this would be a common issue, but online searches only return results for broken readers or readers that have been totally borked by the OS.
At this rate, I am going to go back to just using a password, but hopefully someone has some useful advice for this issue.
Thanks.

T480 fingerprint reader - accuracy?
Re: T480 fingerprint reader - accuracy?
After a reload on my T520 last year I had reliability problems with the FPR too. The T520 apparently thought it was downloading and installing the correct driver for it, when in fact it was not.
After downloading and installing another driver it works 100% every time.
Try another driver is my best advice.

Re: T480 fingerprint reader - accuracy?
Thanks for that.
Oddly, the driver appeared to be correct, but I downloaded and reinstalled the same driver again, and from my ten or so tests just now, accuracy has gone up alot. 8 out of 10 attempts registered correctly, with the two failures being deliberately bad finger placements.
Very weird. Both pre and post driver was:
Synaptics Metallica MIS Touch Fingerprint Reader Driver - 10 [64] - 5.3.3542.26
