T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS
T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS
Hello All,
I have T430 G84
TYPE: 2347G84
I bought Crucial BX500 2.5-INCH SSD (240) from amazon India yesterday during the BIG sale.
I flashed BIOS to Aug 2019 update i.e. 2.82
From BIOS I ensured that HDD is set to AHCI.
I tried to fix the SSD multiple times in the SATA HDD bay carefully but it's not getting detected in BIOS itself.
I fixed the same SSD in L430 in hdd bay and it got detected in 1st attempt.
Currently I am using Seagate SATA hdd in my T430 so I can confirm that no issue with the SATA port inside the laptop.
Just wonder how to solve this issue thanks.
I tried to Google and tried the solutions but not helping.
As a last resort is it possible to remove the DVD rom > Buy caddy for this SSD > Fix the SSD in DVD rom bay?
Unfortunately I can not return this SSD hence I am trying to evaluate all options.
My current SATA disk in T430 takes almost 2.5~3 minutes to load everything. [Home use]
Regards,
Amey.

This one also fits in the T430: https://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.ph ... cts_id=388

Just want to check which 1 can help =
9.5 mm = https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00HD7QQQA/ref ... mFbA5RYZ8Q
12.7 mm = https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07N7HZ3PL/ref ... mFbE3ZX570
Re: T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS
Weird problem.. The only guess that comes to my mind is poor contact between SATA connector on the motherboard and BX500.. Does T430 have a 9mm drive bay? BX500 is definitely 7mm. So if the bay is 9mm this kind of rails are needed: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32788182585.html In the absence of these you can use normal rails for 9mm drive and try to shim the space with folded paper.
Apologies, apparently T430 has a 7mm not 9mm hdd bay and my advice was a bad one
I guess in a pinch you could fully disassemble, make sure there is good contact in the connector and try to boot up the opened-up laptop. It would probably be easier to boot the disassembled T430 if it's placed onto a 4337 dock with an external keyboard and monitor connected. Sorry, no better ideas

Re: T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS
Is the hard drive in a caddy, or is it just a bare drive in the slot? It should be in something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/lenovo-Thinkpa ... SwCkZZXraq
I have a 7mm SSD in my T430 (in a caddy) and don't have any issues. Of course as long as the SSD is plugged into the SATA port correctly, it should work even if it is not in a caddy. Perhaps you should try installing the SSD in another computer to see if the SSD is bad.

Actually seems you're right.. Apparently T430 indeed has a 7mm bay and you have linked to the right item on ebay. Well there's plenty of them therem11k wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 7:55 pmIt should be in something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/222674084053

I was wrong to suggest https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32788182585.html as it's only needed for T520/T530/W520/W530
My apologies

Re: T430 - crucial BX500 SSD not getting detected in BIOS
Hmmm........ my T430 has the 9mm bay and the rubber drive adapters in your AliExpress link (???) The 7 mm drive would wobble around if it didn't have the adapters.
The 9.5mm drive will fit in the bay but the SATA connector doesn't line up correctly.
