T530 Ram Upgrade (noob)

Hey everyone, Before i start all replies are GREATLY appreciated even negative.. And i have absolutely 0 experience with hardware besides very simple things (WiFi dongles) so please be gentle with me.. I got some ram for Christmas from ebay 2 8GB sticks i was gonna stick in my thinkpad since running 4GB is pretty slow and i followed a tutorial video being VERY gentle.. And i got it clicked in there like the video said but i wasn't very confident i did it right.. I slowed the video down even watched other ones and looked at T530 PDF's and stuff but i wasn't very sure it was in there properly.. I checked my ram on the system and it hasn't gone up from 4GB at all so I'm guessing either i potentially got a defective stick or maybe I'm just didn't get it in there properly? Either way i took some pictures of my ram installation attempt and i thought id reach out for help as someone who's new to this eagerly trying to learn hardware.. I also couldn't get the metal prongs that hold the ram in place to snap into the little slots on the ram stick themselves.. Which i imagine is important, and since i don't know the technical names i have drawn circles around the locations on the ram I'm speaking of.. As mentioned above all replies are GREATLY appreciated and my apologizes for any noobish behavior or lack of understanding, Thank you all so much.

Welcome to the forum.

Judging by pictures, the stick is not in all the way. The golden "teeth" mating with the slot should be almost invisible.

Re-seat gently but make sure that it goes all the way in.

when you insert the RAM at an angle, you should in most cases (other than some extremely worn ram slots) feel a click that the ram stick goes in, before you push the ram stick down and feel another click.
Also I don't recommend getting Chinese RAM for these machines as there are just far too many machines that use DDR3/DDR3L SODIMM sticks (in fact, almost a decade worth of machines) so compatibility is a wild question mark if you don't have branded RAM sticks.

And A-Tech RAM is supposedly B-quality Kingston RAM.
