okay buy keyboard without trackpoint

i need a replacement keyboard for my t440p.

keyboards w/o the trackpoint is half price of ones with trackpoint.

so, is it okay to buy the keyboard w/o the trackpoint, and swap the one from my keyboard to the new keyboard?

looks like it is just two screws.

are all trackpoints fit the same?

Any t440/T440s/t440p red trackpoint nub will fit on any of those keyboards, regardless of manufacturer.
Trackpoints just pull off, no screws.

In Taobao, I narrowed down my choices to three ...

* A Lenovo brand keyboard with trackpoint
* A no-brand keyboard with trackpoint
* A no-brand keyboard without trackpoint

Lenovo brand cost twice as much as no-brand.
How are quality of no-name brand compare to genuine Lenovo brand ?

May be pretty bad, see the sticky at the top of the forum:

As you can see - there are some counterfeit keyboards even sold as genuine Lenovo, so if going for the Lenovo keyboard, make sure you do receive an actual genuine item (may not be easy to know in advance).

I would be wary of buying any third party keyboard without trackpoint. Sure it is possible to transplant, but who's to say the third-party vendor actually included all the circuitry required for it to work on the PCB?

Taobao has a seller rating system. So, i will buy from a high rated seller that specialize in Lenovo parts.
