T430s internall battery connector

#1 Post by streiger108 » Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:29 pm

Hi!

I have an old T430s. For years it had issues charging until it finally wouldn't charge or stay on at all. I eventually took the battery out and the laptop works perfectly as long as it's plugged in. I believe the issue may be with the internal battery connector. Is there a name/part number for this piece? Is it even replaceable?

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forum! So you have taken the machine apart and have seen that something is wrong? I'm sorry I've never seen a T430s opened so it's a little hard to visualise what exactly is wrong with your machine.. Perhaps you could send a photo? In any case on the top of each page on this forum there is a link called HMM, find one for your machine, that will at least tell you the name of the part. It won't tell you the FRU though.. For *30 I think the FRU-s are to be looked up somewhere else on Lenovo website..

I still have a 430s, and years ago had this very issue.

Are there any clues coming from the battery charging LED? Flashing, different color, etc.?
(While plugged in with battery attached.)

In my case, it turned out to be one dead/defective cell in the array of them inside the battery pack. This kept the circuit from completing with the battery attached.

I'm more inclined to believe that the battery is causing the issue.

Yep, starting from that generation, the FRUs have been split into a separate document, known as "FRU BOM".
