T450 sound vs T400>headphone out question

#1 Post by Rocker1 » Mon May 24, 2021 11:18 am

Greetings from Mpls,
I am having an issue with a T450 i5. I use laptops to play backing tracks that I record and then I play guitar and sing over my backing tracks that I produce. I play the mp3s with an old (the original and best IMO Winamp 3). But Winamp 3 only works on EWin XP so i have been using an older T400 to do this and take headphone out into my sound mixer. The T400 is becoming unreliable so i purchased a leased T450. That has a combination headphone/mic jack. I loaded the newer Winamp 5.8 (released 2018) but when i play the mp3 on T450 through audio jack into mixer the sound is not as good as my older laptops. It sounds compressed. The kick drum and snare sit back in the mix---something's not right. I have turned off Dolby and another sound plugin and got closer. What am I missing. I cannot use this laptop as it is. Any thoughts?
