T430 backlit keyboard not lighting up

Hello everyone,

I have a T430 that has a backlit keyboard. It used to work but after flashing the bios to a never version (2.82 & EC 1.14), turning on the backlight of the keyboard (Fn+Space) does not work anymore.

Also, I have to mention that the issue is not a hardware one, as the pins and keyboard are in order and pressing Fn+Space turns on the Thinklight, so the keys are working. The battery is dead and I am not using it anymore.

Tried almost everything that I could find online (downgrading bios to lower version but EC remains the same, a script for the keyboard hook for the backlight), therefore I am writing here as a last resort.

How can I get the backlit functionality back?

Wow. I hope you can solve this.

I'm debating updating bios myself on a t440p because of a driver install problem.

This makes me think again about doing that.

Hi. Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, the solutions in the article do not work in my case. I think it's related to the EC, but I am not sure how to dig deeper into the issue.
As far as I can tell, it's not a hardware issue, but a software one.

Still not solved.
I am thinking of replacing it with a new part.

Did that T430 previously have a T420 (7-row) keyboard?

X220-KB -> X230 works the same as T420-KB -> T430, which involves a modded EC.
