Been fighting this with a T470s. The left trackpad button intermittently does not register a click or sometimes fails to register a button up. This is mostly under Ubuntu 20.04; haven't noticed using windows 10 (but dont use that much). Keyboard II works fine. Works fine for a long while and then starts acting up. Sometimes one click here and there. Other times all clicks for a bit of time but eventually clears for a while.
At a bit of a loss for ideas other than maybe the case is warped. Any thoughts?
Not so likely to be the actual trackpad unit because:
1) Got the t470s and left button on the trackpoint was a bit sticky but noticed the rubber nub under the button was cracked. So got a new trackpad (and then had to get it replaced as it was bad). Still has issue.
2) Got a used part that had a trackpoint (to get trackpoint and cable) to see if that was the issue. Still problems [though at first seemed better].
3) Got a NIB lenovo part. Still issues.

T470S non-responsive/sticky left click trackpoint
Re: T470S non-responsive/sticky left click trackpoint
Still no clear cause but the problem seems most prevalent if i apply pressure to the palmrest.... (I tend the lean on palmrest)
Theory: causes clicks to get lost (because it creates separation underneath), unclear if it's the horizontal (side-side) or vertical (towards front / screen) causes the issue.
Theory: causes pad to send an overload of signals to the kernel and causes events to get lost [the palmrest sends data (on t470s') even if it is turned off, probably because the pointing stick buttons are via the palmrest].
At some point, I'll take this apart and in put it into another chassis I have, but need to find a few clear hours for that.
